A step in the fight for the title. Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra takes victory and important points from Nürburgring
A narrow lead at the top of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe championship for the Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra team? That is no longer the case after the fourth round of the championship at the Nürburgring. Bronislav Formánek and Stefan Rosina were on the podium in both races, securing first and second place in the current standings.
One race in the rain, the other in the dry, an unpredictable qualifying. The Nürburgring provided a hectic weekend for the nearly fifty crews of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe series, but the team led by Jiří Mičánek Jr. managed to make the most of it. "We confirmed our position at the top of the championship and showed that, barring anything unexpected, we are one of the best teams in the field," said Jiří Mičánek. He is referring to the fact that the fourth round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe series finally avoided any unusual situations—safety car exits or red flags.
The race also suited Bronislav Formánek perfectly. "I didn't want to say it upfront and jinx things, but the Nürburgring is my favorite track and I believed we could make the podium here," a champagne-soaked Formánek praised after the second race. In the first one, he and Rosina had to deal with heavy rain, but the experienced duo managed to make the most of it. Starting, Formánek maintained a very good position and handed the car to Rosina on the verge of a podium finish, while the Slovakian driver then produced a great pursuit run that saw the team take the PRO-AM class win, spiced up by a place in the elite ten overall.
Rosina also played a key role in the second race. Due to the format of the qualifying session, which was held on a drying track on Saturday, the Slovakian matador was preceded by a number of slower drivers from the AM and LC Cup classes. However, Rosina expertly managed to squeeze past most of them and improved ten places on his starting position during the first lap. "Broněk took over and with a classically perfect drive he made it to second place. This consolidated his position at the front of the championship, what more could you ask for," commented Rosina on the race weekend.
The second crew starting in the PRO class also had to deal with unpredictable conditions. The first race was very well started by Jáchym Galáš, who worked his way through several rivals and handed Matěj Pavlíček a Lamborghini Huracán ST EVO2 in the colors of the Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra team close to the top ten in the elite category. Matěj Pavlíček then struggled for pace on the wet track, eventually finishing the race in fifteenth position.
In the second race, Pavlíček had to deal with the same problem at the start as Stefan Rosina starting from the same row. While the experienced Slovakian rider chose the inside track after the start, Pavlíček tried to go around the slower riders on the outside. "It was fifty-fifty and unfortunately it didn't work out. A few cars had contact in the corner and I got caught out as well. I fought for every position after that, but a lot of drivers had very sharp elbows," Pavlíček described the unlucky start to the race. After the driver changes, the order was mixed up and Jáchym Galáš managed to gradually work his way through his rivals to the final 13th place in the elite PRO category.
"This weekend was finally about the racing everyone wants. There were no accidents, no safety car exits, no extreme weather, even though we drove in the rain one day. It was just pure racing and the guys showed that we are capable of running up front. We set ourselves the goal of winning the Pro-AM class championship this year, and we are currently doing it well, so hopefully we won't jinx it," concludes team manager Jiří Mičánek.
